Sammy Turns One

I cannot believe Sammy is one!  (Actually, he's almost 13 months old already!)  It seems like yesterday that I got the call that Beth was in labor.  I was talking to my mom (who was there with my dad to watch Nate) and I told her to remind Beth to put makeup on before leaving for the hospital if she cared about it for any post-birth pictures.  When my mom relayed the message and Beth quickly responded something to the effect of no way that's happening I knew Sammy would be here soon!  (Not that Beth usually wears lots of makeup.  She rarely wears any, but it was something about the urgency of her response.)  That night we drove up crammed into my dad's car (me, Jessie, my girls and my dad) and just made it in time to meet Sammy before visiting hours ended.  It was frigid and I remember walking back to the parking garage thrilled to have met him and also glad that I was going home to two kids old enough to sleep through the night.  I wasn't quite ready to have a baby in our life again but, what do you know, a few months later I was pregnant!  Sammy is such a sweet and cute baby so maybe I'll blame him for changing my mind so quickly about having a newborn in our family again!  And I wouldn't trade those late night feedings with our sweet Lucy for anything so I guess I was ready.

Beth and Edward had just moved into their lovely new home when Sammy's actual birthday came so we celebrated a week later.  It was our first time to their home since they've done some major cosmetic renovations and it looks great!  The girls were so excited to see their cousins, have a party and spend time in their new home.  We all had a great time and I can't wait for more celebrations in their home.

 

 

 

 

There were men working on the siding while we were there, but the kids seemed completely oblivious.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Three of us were snapping to try and get this "4-3-2-1-0" picture and while we didn't get one with them all smiling at us, we got some cute ones.

 

Maddie was desperate to hold Sammy.
